This year, ice cream treats are coming a bit early. With the 70-degree weather last week, I couldn't help but offer the little guy some cold creamy goodness (okay, and I really just wanted some myself).
Out In Nature
The warmer weather has also brought us out-of-doors more...here is Collin with his current favorite housemate-of-the-year at Spot Pond. Going out into the woods with a two year old is really a win-win for everyone. He gets to throw rocks (throw rocks! when does he ever get to do that?) into the water, run and jump around as much as he pleases, and pick up sticks or pine cones at will. And I don't have to tell him "no" for any of these. Happy kid and happy mama! A picnic lunch under the shade of a tree with a sleeping baby is nice too. Boy, are we looking forward to the summer!
Seeds and Sprouts
The Gibbens House Garden is underway. Our order of some heirloom seeds from Seed Savers (www.seedsavers.org) arrived earlier in the month, and the tomato and brocolli plants are happily sprouting now. Hopefully the eggplant and bell peppers will come out soon too! The hope is that in later April or May, we can transplant these little sproutlets to a raised garden-bed outside. We shall see how that goes.
Still A Bit Of Winter
Before the cold weather completely leaves, I am hoping to finish this shawl off. It is only about half done right now, so hopefully April will give me a chance to complete (and wear) it. Days like this week, it's still nice to sit next to the fire and get a few rows in here and there.
And with that, bye-bye March. Although you gave us a good two weeks of colds for the whole family, we are happy for the unexpected warmth!
